Mattie Scariot, director Since 2018, Mattie has assumed the role of Festival Director for the Poppy Jasper International Film Festival, and under her leadership, the festival has experienced remarkable growth over the past five years. Currently the festival spans eight days and takes place in five cities: Morgan Hill, San Martin, Gilroy, Hollister, and San Juan Bautista, with one day in San Jose collaborating with the Asian American Arts Festival where PJIFF showcases the best of their Asian films and filmmakers. In the most recent edition of the festival, it welcomed over 350 filmmakers from 14 countries, and hosting 25 industry professionals. The event successfullyscreened260 shortand feature films from 30 countries, garnering significant major media attention from prominent outlets like the Metro, Weeklys, Mercury News, SF Gate, and Variety Magazine, among others. |

Darin Chibi, Comic Artist Illustrator, Comic Creator, Writer, Manga Instructor, and an Amateur Cosplayer from the Bay Area. He's also a two times winner of S.J.P.L Graphic Novel Making Contest. As far as he can remember, he's an avid student of the arts especially drawing at an early age. It's not until in his 20s, he took his craft seriously and learn everything he can to become an artist. Shanshan Whittall, Actress, Producer Shanshan is a film program curator and distributor. She began her career as an actress in 2008, as a student in Malaysia, and has since acted in features, shorts, and nationally-broadcasted commercials. In 2015, she began working with independent filmmakers from China, U.S., UK, Malaysia, and Vietnam to help distribute their films internationally. She also works with a variety of international film festivals providing fresh film content from China, including the Seattle International Film Festival, San Francisco International Film Festival, and more. After working closely with many independent filmmakers from her native China, her appreciation of the craftsmanship of filmmaking led her to create the Chinese Filmmaker Showcase (China Day) in partnership with the Poppy Jasper International Film Festival (PJIFF). She has been a PJIFF board member and worked closely with PJIFF director Mattock Scariot since 2019. |
